I went here for takeout lunch with my coworkers. It was an interesting experience! I got the sweet and sour pork lunch special, which includes a side of rice and their soup of the day. All things considered, I think this is a solid, respectable Chinese restaurant, replete with delicious food, Chinese-speaking employees, and a sizable customer base (there were hardly any tables open when we got there).
Mission Hunan's pros include its convenient location (steps away from 16th St/Mission BART station), food quality and authenticity, (relatively) fast service), and very cheap food prices.
Though the lady that took our order told us our takeout order would take 15 minutes, I think we only waited about 10. While we waited, I went to the corner store next door and grabbed some snacks for the office.
I paid less than $10 for the meal, which was awesome considering how massive it was. As far as taste goes, I'd say it was on par with most Chinese food places I've been to, but certainly nothing to write home about. My friend got the Szechuan beef and was disappointed with the food quality, but said she'd give the place another try.
Some might ding the place for its location in this part of the Mission and the grittiness, but I don't mind it at all. I'm happy to come back to dine in and try other entrees. -

OMG!!!! I don't recommend this restaurant at all
I ordered shrimp dumpling, pork shumai and steamed bbq pork. The waitress said i have to wait about 15 min for this. I'm down with that.
Once the food was served, i found that pork shumai was undercooked!!! Still saw red color inside. But unluckily, i ate one piece already!!!! She asked to gave me new one, but i said no. No mood for eating anymore. I hope i don't have diarrhea or trichinosis.
I will go to see doctor after this. Fml -

Wait, wait, wait... Chinese food lunch specials for UNDER $10? ...In the Mission??? Oh, I'm GAME! Where else can you find a deal like this in the area? Okay, okay... maybe you CAN find it elsewhere, but the food here is yummy and a definite deal for what you get.
It was Sunday and we were... you guessed it; hangry. Because, I'm ALWAYS... yep, you guessed it again: hangry!!! Not wanting to spend an arm and a leg on lunch in the city, we decided to look up some spots for cheap eats. Since we were hangin' out in the Mission, we decided to see what was close by. Mission Hunan popped up in the search and looked pretty good, so headed down the street to try it out.
It's definitely not the fanciest place in the world, but it's very open and filled with tons of tables. We took a seat and were given menus. To our surprise, they were still serving lunch at 3:00pm on a Sunday. Say whaaaat?? Hook me up with that cheapness, Bae! Lunch here is served daily from 10:30 am - 3:30 pm, and most plates are priced under $10! Yep, you heard me right! Sometimes, it's good to give your pockets a break by taking advantage of the great little cheapy deals. Their lunch specials come with steamed white rice, a cup of their soup of the day, hot tea, and one entrée. Not bad for lunch!
We ordered the broccoli shrimp and kung pao lunch specials and a side of spring rolls to share. Their soup of the day was vegetable egg drop which was very flavorful and served piping hot. Both of the kung pao chicken and broccoli shrimp entrees tasted very good. The kung pao had a nice subtle spiciness and the shrimp were nice and plump. The spring rolls were a huge miss and I wouldn't recommend them. The filling just tasted... weird. It tasted like it had been frozen. I would skip the spring rolls and stick to the entrees. I wished that they had the option to get fried rice since I prefer this over white rice.
In general, the food was tasty and filling for the price. Service was so-so but still adequate. Parking is a bit tough since it's street parking only, but there's a large lot that's one or two blocks behind the building if you don't mind walking a bit. Mission Hunan has some great lunch specials and I would definitely return for a cheap and filling lunch. -

02/01/2019. Waitress Trudy. Small Chinese spot across from the Victoria Theatre. Not well decorated but I'm here for the food and to get out of the rain!!! Well knock my socks off!!!! This hole in the wall has some of the finest Chinese food I've had in years! Hand rolled egg rolls with seaweed and veggies. The sweet and sour chicken had fresh vegetables that appeared to be cut at time of preparation. The combination chow menu was filled with beef, chicken and fish. There was a steady flow of people coming in for take out and I know why. I'll drive here again. Be careful. The portions are so big, we took 75 percent home!!!
